The Trump administration argued that courts can't stop the Homeland Security Department from abruptly ending a program for Venezuelan migrants.

The ruling extends the court’s April emergency order barring Trump from using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to deport migrants held in a Texas detention facility, after lawyers said the detainees were being put on buses towards an airport without a chance to challenge the decision via habeas corpus petitions.

The Supreme Court granted an emergency application filed by the Trump administration, which argued that it has sole authority over immigration disputes such as the Temporary Protected Status of Venezuelans living in the United States. The Supreme Court ruling is a major victory for the Trump administration.
