For the second straight AHL playoff series, the Charlotte Checkers take a 2-0 series lead after Rasmus Asplund’s overtime winner pushes the top-seeded Hershey Bears to the brink of elimination.

Asplund’s heroics helped the Checkers go up 2-0 on the Bears in the best of five Atlantic Division Finals. A goal from Luke Philip early in the first helped the Bears take a 1-0 lead, but Charlotte shut them down from there and set the stage for Asplund’s late game break out.

The Hershey Bears suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday night in Game 2 of the Atlantic Division Finals. Hershey trails 2-0 in the best-of-5 series and needs three straight wins to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
